Research has shown that
the arts are valuable to the community because they:
- Enhance quality of life and add to the economic vitality
- Attract new residents, businesses and tourists
- Improve K-12 academic performance and increase SAT scores
- Provide programs to the under-served
The Mint Museums, in particular, have an outstanding 65+ year
history of making the Charlotte region a better place to live,
work and learn. The Mint Museums have received countless local
and national awards for our educational efforts including curriculum
development, teacher training, technology, traveling exhibitions,
student art exhibitions, publications and outreach.
Corporate members and sponsors provide
necessary funding to support annual educational programs
such as (partial list below):
- Free tours for approximately 25,000 schoolchildren
- Student art exhibits of more than 500 students works.
The Mint Museum of Art is one of the few museums in the
country with a permanent exhibit hall for students work.
- The Learning Center which incorporates two classrooms
used for hands-on lessons and classes at the Mint Museum
of Art.
- The Education Resource Center which includes hands-on
activities, computers and books for schoolchildren as well
as families
- Family Day Festivals
- Outreach programs
- Traveling exhibitions
- Lectures, classes and programs for a variety of ages
- Special events and preview parties
